It is the joy of knowing Maplestory M Mesos others are also striving to make their personalities the silliest-looking or even the cutest, that smart names are well sought after, and that whenever you're looking for a party pursuit, five other strangers at any time will immediately join you. These are the things which make this game meaningful. I sat there for hours trying every wonderful term I could think of before I eventually landed to a four-letter word username which others had not taken yet: Leit, like in leitmotif. (I also created characters named Enlarge and Colonial, but those do not have quite the same charm for obvious reasons.)

In beta, almost any word was accessible, which sucked the joy out of the hunt. The same goes for building a house. You are afforded so much free space and furniture, but the action of laying the bricks and complex details is tiresome if nobody ever knocks on your door.

I have come to the conclusion which MapleStory 2 lives or dies by how many people are playing it together. And while that is true for most massive multiplayer games, it's particularly true for Maple, since its fan base is mostly people who grew up with the original, and enjoy the nostalgia factor. Nobody really plays Maple for content and its quests.

Among the most well-known activities in the first MaplestoryM Mesos MapleStory, and it remains that way in the sequel, is letting your personality stand in the middle of a city square while you're physically away from the game. You might not be playing, but you are showing off your appearance and stats to onlookers. That does not have quite the exact same charm when nobody is looking.
